Interviews
with General
Moshe Dayan - Malka made an exclusive interview with Dayan
on the one year anniversary of the Yom Kippur War. This was
the first interview he gave since he was investigated for
the neglect to foresee that terrible war. The photo was shot
by a member of Malka's TV crew at the conclusion of the interview
which took place at Dayan's home, in Zahalah, Israel.

with Leonard
Cohen - Malka first met the great poet/troubadour Leonard
Cohen when the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation commissioned
her to interview him. Though he agreed to do the interviews
he uttered not a word in reply to her questions, then, while
slipping his hand under her skirt, he explained: this is
an honest true response... as are the poems... the rest
is drivel. Years later, when Malka's novel Sulha was published,
Leonard Cohen offered for the back cover: "... Crucial
human questions, passionately addressed, and answered in
a spirit of humanity... I rejoice in (Malka Marom's) achievement."

with Joni
Mitchell - (Pictured
Joni Mitchell and Malka ) After taping one of her TV shows, Malka stopped
for a coffee at the Riverboat where the blond being on the
tiny stage was tuning and retuning her guitar, then she sang
Both Sides Now, The Circle Game, I Had A King... 'What is
your name?' Malka asked her after her set. 'Joni Mitchell'
she replied. 'You are a huge talent, Joni Mitchell, as big
as Dylan, if not bigger,' Malka said. 'Really?... do you really
think so?' Joni responded in that blush of astonishment and
delight of the young. Years later, Malka's radio profiles
of Joni won the nomination for the highest award in Canadian
broadcasting. Read the Interview
CBC Radio Review
Joni Mitchell with Malka Cohen
Singer-turned-broadcaster Malka Cohen came up with an insightful profile of
songwriter-performer Joni Mitchell on a special edition of CBC Radion's "The
Entertainers" series.
Mitchell openly discussed seeing analysis to talk thing over with someone who
wasn't a close friend - detailed her career from Canada to the US bigtime of
pop music. A rapport between the interviewer (Malka Cohen in this case) and
Mitchell was obvious because the two shared discussions of performing to large
audiences and Mitchell's confession of loneliness onstage by herself.
Interspersed with Mitchell's music, the profile sustained interest for all of
it's two hours.

 with Pablo
Casals
"...music, this marvellous, universal language, understood by
everyone, everywhere ought to be a source of better communication among men.
This is why I make a special appeal to my fellow musicians everywhere, asking
each one to put the purity of his art at the service of mankind for the peace
we all desire and wait for."
"...I do not feel that music or any form of art con be an
answer in itself. Music must serve a purpose, it must be a part of something
larger than itself, a part of humanity. A musician is also a me and more
important than his music is his attitude toward life, nor can the two be
separated.

with Nana Mouskouri
"... I've always
kept one ideal that - to do whatever I do- believing in it,
being honest with the people and never betray anybody.. maybe
being honest is a sort of answer..."
